We want to thank all those dedicated to teaching about the arts.

Over the next week, keep an eye on our social media accounts and the Scottsdale Arts Connections blog for special shout-outs of our tremendous gratitude to generous groups in our community who make the arts possible for all. Today, we give thanks to the teachers and educators who inspire us.

To all the arts lovers, educators, volunteers, and artists in our community: we miss you!

We miss our teachers, whose dedication to their students is unsurpassed. We miss our teaching artists dancing, singing, and storytelling in preschool classrooms. We miss our poets, musicians, and visual artists delivering amazing residencies to students. We miss our arts-loving members at the Boys & Girls Clubs creating fabulous work. We miss our docents engaging visitors in the exhibitions at SMoCA and our Thursday morning chats. We miss our Memory Lounge family and our Fridays filled with art, laughter, and cookies. We miss our incredibly talented Visions teens who we know will be our future arts leaders.

But more than missing you, we thank you! We thank our entire community for your support, not only through these difficult times, but always. We thank our teachers for your dedication to providing the highest-quality, well-rounded education to your students that always includes the arts. We thank our teaching artists for their skills, creativity, and passion for sharing their art form with our community. We thank our docents for their advocacy and support of SMoCA and contemporary art. We thank our creative, artful community that invites us into their spaces and trusts us to provide unique opportunities that not only make us better artists, but also better humans.

From all of us on the Learning & Innovation team, we hope you are safe, healthy, and well. As much as we hope to inspire you, you also continue to inspire us.

Thank you,

Laura Hales, Tammy Hinds, Chris Harthun, Brittany Arnold, Charlotte Quinney, and Natalie Marsh

#GivingTuesdayNow, on May 5, is a day of generosity and unity—a day to come together and give back in response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19. At a time when we are all experiencing the pandemic, generosity is what brings people of all backgrounds together across the globe. Scottsdale Arts is sharing tremendous thanks to arts lovers and advocates for their support in good times and in challenging times alike.
