MEMORY LOUNGE: Baroque Style: Evocative Miniatures

About the Event
When we think of Baroque music, we often think of Bach and his carefully constructed cathedrals of sound. However, there is another side to this repertoire entirely—one that often goes overlooked, even by many musicians. We will be discussing the style made popular in 1700s France, namely that of small-scale compositions, Technicolor names, and ornaments galore. As the workshop progresses, we will also explore “text-painting,” or the craft of shaping one’s music to suit the subject matter through recognizable sound cues. FREE; no kit needed.
