Ballet Hispánico

Bizet’s Carmen has seen countless interpretations over the past 150 years, but never one like this! Acclaimed choreographer Gustavo Ramírez Sansano and Ballet Hispánico bring this full-length ballet to the stage, invigorating this timeless tale with an unrelenting energy that leaves you breathless. Highly original and full of explosive movement, CARMEN.maquia is a bold reimagining of this tragic story.

FAQs

Are student matinees open to the public?

Student matinees are offered during the school year as field trip opportunities to all schools, including district, charter, and private schools and homeschool groups. These performances are not open to the public. 

How much are tickets to student matinees?

Tickets are $10 per student and chaperone tickets are free. Title I schools qualify for discounted tickets and transportation through a partnership with Act One. Visit Act1az.org for more information on how to book tickets. 

How do I place an order for student matinees?

Call our guest services team at 480-499-8587 or email them at [email protected]. Box office hours are Wednesday–Saturday, noon–6 p.m. 

Where do the matinees take place?

All matinees are performed in the Virginia G. Piper Theater at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, 7380 E. 2nd Street, Scottsdale, AZ, 85251 (unless otherwise noted). 

What time should we arrive?

Please arrive at least thirty minutes prior to show time. 

Can we eat lunch while we are there?

There are no on-site areas available due to a large festival occurring on this same date and time at Scottsdale Civic Center, located directly outside Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts. Please find alternative areas outside of our campus to enjoy lunch. 

Do you have parking for buses?

Yes, but parking is limited. When booking please confirm how many buses you will be bringing with you. 

How many chaperones should I bring?

It is recommended to assign each chaperone a designated group of students and provide each chaperone with a written list of students in that group. We recommend the following:  

  • One chaperone for every five students in grades 3–5  
  • One chaperone for every ten students in middle and high school.    
  • Chaperones must stay with their assigned group throughout the field trip. Adult chaperones are responsible for student conduct and behavior during their visit to the Center. Title I schools may book through Act One to receive free tickets and transportation. Visit Act One for more information.
