Both poetry and music use rhythm, tempo, pitch, and language to convey mood. In this participatory, hands-on workshop with teaching artist Cheryl Mertz, teachers will explore creative methods to assess comprehension using written and spoken word. Strategies explored in this workshop can be used in all areas of the curriculum but connect best with middle and high school English, language arts, and social studies.
