Teamwork Set in Stone

I liked the idea of collaboration resulting from a common goal, so I wanted to depict this type of teamwork with a project. The idea of art seemed fitting because of art’s central role in culture.

We Are One

What inspired me to create this work was my friend. Personally, I have many foreign friends, and they have told me that they have not been treated well due to their nationality. Because of this, I have decided that my work can speak for them and encourage them not to listen to all the criticism because, at the end of the day, We Are One.

Rain Cleanse

Rain Cleanse was inspired by the uncertainty and gloomy routine I experienced during quarantine. I was in a dark place mentally, and it was difficult to remain positive and see the light at the end of the tunnel. Seeing the seasons change and spring arriving reminded me how much more productive it was to remain hopeful that the pandemic would end than sulking with my thoughts. Being inside all the time made me better appreciate my friendships, the outdoors, and being an optimist.

Connecting Isolated Pawns

I wanted to share my story on how I overcame my mental obstacles during the pandemic because I hope people will connect with it and, in turn, immerse themselves in human connection through any means possible. As connected pawns, we are stronger together!

United in Hope

An unforgettable date for millions of people around the world. Our lives are almost divided into what came before this date, which is often referred to as a happy period, and what comes after it.

Life in Pink

Youth Ambassadors are mainly young teenagers that see life in pink. They always focus on the bright side rather than pointing out the dark one. So certainly, after this pandemic, they will have a big role in the recovery of the world.

Coronavirus is our common enemy that appeared last year and pushed the world to be united to confront it. United in what? United in hope.

The year 2020 kept us voiceless. A year and a half ago, none of us could have thought that a virus would spread around the world, lock everyone in their houses, and terrify a great number of scientists. Consequently, what could the youngest people do to survive the pandemic? And how did they stay hopeful?

Holding Us Together

The current pandemic inspired me to create this work because it showed me how the world is able to connect and stay united even during hard times. Hoping for better times is what is keeping us all together.

One World United

I chose to represent “United in Hope” as a picture of the Earth with a mask covering the bottom and two doves pulling away the mask. My drawing on the mask illustrates the terrible events that have taken place and worsened over the last year. The mask represents the pandemic, along with people feeling divided. I drew two large flags to show how countries are not working together to make the world a better place. There’s also air pollution and burning buildings to symbolize fires and protests. On the top of the picture, Earth represents One World United, the title of my project. When I look at the Earth, I see a group of people of all races united, standing together in their community. The sky is clear, and there is one flag to symbolize that, as a world, we can work together. It does not matter if you live in London, China or Washington, D.C., the world is united and peaceful as the two doves pull away all the sadness the world has endured (on the mask).

Positivity Within

This piece is inspired by positivity, my personal spiritual growth, the collective's spiritual growth over this past year, the higher vibrations, overcoming challenges with positivity and awareness, and spreading love. Everything you need is within you.

Hope Spring

This piece is inspired by the hopefulness of nature during the Arizona spring.

Mask & I

I wanted to show how others might be seeing me during this time. I also wanted to express my individuality because everyone is unique. No matter what "wrapping" we have on the outside, our inner uniqueness should unite us.

I Hope

I chose to focus my piece on music because it is the universal language. Each culture has a different response or interpretation of the same notes. That is why each of my figures are so unique but all beautiful.

See and Understand

My grandfather grew up in Kenya. I was interested in how to draw people, showing their similarities and differences. My art instructor taught me how to see and understand some differences and many similarities in drawing facial features. I also learned about Massai culture and some Swahili words.

La Esperanza

Con esta ilustración quise dar respuesta al cuestionamiento de “¿Cuáles son algunos ejemplos o ilustraciones de unirnos y celebrar nuestra esperanza en la humanidad y su futuro?” esto lo hice colocando al centro de la pintura una planta, que representa a la pandemia que tiene como frutos cubre bocas, esto está ocasionando una ruptura de la frontera con la forma continental de U.S.A. y México, con la finalidad de representar la unión ante la adversidad. En la parte superior de la frontera se puede observar una cerca rota, que representa de igual manera la unión para celebrar juntos, en una de las partes de la frontera coloqué la bandera de Scottsdale y el escudo de Álamos y en la otra esquina las banderas de México y U.S.A. estos elementos se encuentran uno al lado del otro ya que representa la alianza de estos lugares para conservar la esperanza y tener resiliencia para sobrellevar situaciones negativas tales como las de una pandemia. Al centro de la ruptura de la frontera se encuentra en la parte superior el título de la pintura en un pendón verde sostenido por palomas, este color y estos animales son conocidos por representar la esperanza y abajo se encuentra una corona de olivos, camino a celebrar el triunfo de la esperanza. Debajo de esto se encuentran personas celebrando y disfrutando. Otro elemento que se distingue bien son las partituras de las marchas de “Stars and stripes forever” y “Zacatecas” ambas son insignias de batallas peleadas y ganadas de nuestros países, que hasta hoy en día se escuchan para celebrar, por lo que decidí incluirlas ya que, ante la batalla contra la contingencia sanitaria, se necesita celebrar que debemos mantener la esperanza.

Hemos Sido Iluminados

Mi dibujo intenta transmitir la importancia de la vacuna contra el COVID, cómo beneficia a los ciudadanos y que todos la merecen, independientemente de su edad, género, raza y apariencia.

Muy Bonitas Amistades

Mi dibujo trata de como el mundo estando unido sin importar las clases sociales, y las diferentes culturas lograremos enfrentar las amenazas que estamos viviendo en estos tiempos difíciles de la pandemia. Que podemos salir adelante ayudándonos unos a otros, salir de esta crisis de enfermedad y muchas cosas más, con esfuerzo y respeto siempre lo podremos lograr, también para transmitir paz y amor a las nuevas generaciones. La explicación de mi dibujo es compleja y sencilla, se refiere que la inyección que está arriba en la parte del cielo trae la cura para el COVID y saca lo mejor de las personas, y para poder tenerla ocupamos de las culturas, pero aquí quise transmitir más la de México y Estados Unidos, que cuando es aplicada para el mundo no importan las fronteras, de ese modo al momento de caer las gotas a las banderas se unen y el mundo sonríe a pesar de las dificultades que esta pasando, el se sigue armando por eso lo dibuje como un rompecabezas donde la cura pasa por todas partes y se esparza hasta caer abajo, donde hay personas con cubre bocas que reciben la gota de la cura y transmiten un bonito mensaje para poder seguir superando las crisis y seguir para adelante de una manera justa y honrada, siempre aprendiendo de uno al otro por ese motivo coloque dos manos sosteniendo al mundo y al estar unidas las manos que sigan construyendo el mundo de la mejor manera, para el bien de toda la población. Scottsdale y Álamos son un ejemplo a seguir ya que ellos a pesar de las fronteras siguen unidos y les enseñan a los estudiantes a convivir y aprender sin importar que tan distintas sean sus culturas y como de ello se pueden hacer muy bonitas amistades.
