Unity in Hope | Scottsdale Sister Cities Association – Young Artists and Authors Showcase
Apr 16 - Jun 20, 2021
Art and writing from local high school students and students from Scottsdale sister cities around the world.
About
For decades, Sister Cities International has leveraged the power art has to transform societies and transcend cultural boundaries through the Young Artists and Authors Showcase. The Showcase has given youth around the world opportunity to express their vision for a more unified, peaceful world through original art and literature. As we strive to promote peace through mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation—one individual, one community at a time—we recognize a younger generation, capable of dreaming up a human existence that is even more dynamic, more advanced, and more resilient than ever before.
Scottsdale Sister Cities Association (SSCA) has encouraged local high school students to participate in this art and writing competition for more than 32 years, with the essential goal to give voice to young artists and writers. As we move through this year of uncertainty and isolation, we look toward an unexpected path—filled with innovative ideas and renewed hope—and welcome students to share their artistic expressions of the theme “Unity in Hope.”
Selections from students in our sister cities of Kingston, Canada; Alamos, Mexico; and Marrakech, Morocco, are included in this show as our quest for international goodwill and connectivity continues.
This exhibition is organized by the Scottsdale Sister Cities Association, Scottsdale Artists’ School, and Scottsdale Arts Learning & Innovation.
