The "real me" seems to be made up of what people (including myself) don’t want to see but, regardless, is incredibly prominent. In my portrait, this is translated into pimples.

My artwork reflects the people and experiences that forged me, specifically focusing on the people. It acts as a sort of memorial to those special people. While my memories of what they look like will fade, their kindness will live on.

The real me is the least and most beautiful thing I've seen. Often looking at myself feels strange, uncanny even. Though my reflection brings great uncertainty, it also comes with euphoria of what I had not experienced. Surreal is the best way to describe how I see myself. I tried to reflect it here.

Having the confidence to openly express myself and my interests both in real life and online at events, such as conventions and parades, makes me feel like the real me. It shows my medium as a closed-in and secretive person at first, as I have a massive fear of being judged or called weird. But I slowly begin to open up, even though it may be rushed or obvious at times. But that also reflects who I am: someone stuck in the shell of my own insecurities and paranoia, but it soon completely opens up, with my pride as a trans reflecting my pride as a whole.

Another aspect of feeling like the real me is expressing myself through my interests, such as various video games and shows. One of those interests is a game called Splatoon. I had drawn myself as an inkling from Splatoon to express my interest in games. I draw myself as if I were a character in said game/show.

How I look on the outside doesn’t always look like how I feel on the inside. It changes. Sometimes it fits, sometimes it doesn’t. It shows how I’m more than just one thing. It shows it changes but at the same time is always still me. The words “Just Don’t Open Your Eyes” show that as long as I keep my closed, I can just be me.

The real me is who I am on the inside not the sex I was born with. I want to dress and act how I want, regardless of what I look like. It shows how much I have to change myself to be seen as the person I really am, but even that doesn’t work.

I think my real self is somewhat out of reach; most of the time I wouldn’t be able to describe “the real me” other than saying the truest version of myself, whom I do not yet fully know. My artwork is a person (myself) looking in a handheld mirror and asking if the person he sees in the reflection is truly him, unable to fully discern what is and isn’t the true him.
