In this exhibition of mixed media painting, photography, and sculpture, Chaparral High School photography students taught by Desiree Devirgilio and Pinnacle High School visual art students taught by Kelsey Greenland use meaningful objects, imagery, and colors to express their authentic selves. The resulting personal allegories offer glimpses into the private worlds of the artists’ identities with hopes that we too might share more freely and connect with each other more deeply.
Personal Effects is the culmination of in-class residencies led by multidisciplinary artist Therosia Reynolds and photographer Rebecca Ross. Residencies were inspired by two exhibitions currently on view at Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (SMoCA), Brad Kahlhamer: Swap Meet (Feb. 26 – Oct. 9) and Beverly McIver: Full Circle (Feb. 12 – Sep. 4).
